PROGRAM SUMMARY

CCO Digital Generations is a competitive annual program providing early-career and senior Canadian composers the opportunity to have their work performed, digitally produced and promoted by the Canadian Composers Orchestra. In addition to these digital performances and promotional material, the emerging composers receive engraving lessons, composition lessons, and mentorship sessions from leading members of our organization.

APPLICATION

The Canadian Composers Orchestra is seeking one early career composer and two senior composers of any race or gender to participate in the production of new works for wind quintet. Senior / established composers should submit underperformed pre-existing works. Emerging composers should submit examples of previous works and a proposal for a new piece. These works will be professionally filmed, directed and produced by audio, video and live streaming specialists Domenic Clark and Massimo Russo for free online viewing, as well as programmed in a live concert managed by members of the Canadian Composer's Orchestra Opus Program. The work will also be presented as score video and promoted in the CCO's educational video series analyzing and advocating for further performances of the composers music. The select emerging composer will additionally gain access to engraving lessons and digital marketing training with Andrew James Clark.

SELECTION PROCESS

Three composers will be selected by a jury of both composers and videographers who will assess the quality of the applicant's notated musical scores and or proposal. The selected composers will be expected to remain in communication with the Andrew James Clark throughout the program and must also attend at least one rehearsal (in person or virtually) to provide interpretive directions to the performers prior to the recording date.
