About Digital Generations

CCO Digital Generations is an annual program providing early-career Canadian composers the opportunity to have their work digitally performed, produced and promoted by the Canadian Composers Orchestra. This years program has been generously funded by SOCAN.

CALL FOR SCORES (THE APPLICATION DEADLINE HAS PASSED)

 

The Canadian Composers Orchestra is seeking one early career composer of any race or gender to compose a new work for percussion quartet. The newly created work will be professionally filmed and produced by audio, video and live streaming specialists Domenic Clark and Nikolay Nikitushkin for free online viewing. The work will also be presented as score video and promoted in the CCO's educational video series analyzing and advocating for further performances of the composers music. The select participant will additionally gain access to engraving lessons and marketing lessons with Andrew James Clark, and mentorship sessions and composition lessons with Tyler Versluis and Maria-Eduarda Martins

SELECTION PROCESS

One composer will be selected by a jury of both composers and performers who will come to a decision by assessing the quality of the applicant's notated musical scores. The selected composers will be expected to remain in communication with the Andrew James Clark throughout the winter and must also attend at least one rehearsal (in person or virtually) to provide interpretive directions to the performers prior to the recording date. Participants will be notified by December 1st 2023 and their percussion quartet will be due by March 1st 2024. The recording of the work will take place in May 2024.

There is no application fee this year.

Only Canadian citizens may apply.

A PDF score of your best work (for any instrumentation).

A PDF score of your most recent work (for any instrumentation).

You may include streaming links to recordings (or midi) of these pieces if available.
